Vintage Clay

One of the first places we head to at an Estate Sale
is the GARAGE...

We are always looking for some great vintage
Clay Pots

We LOVE the look of these pots...
and can't get enough!

You can't find patina like this
on new pots....

Nothing beats the great distressing
of Vintage Terra Cotta pots...

but we have seen where you can take new pots
and "age" them to look like older pots here.
These new  distressed pots look a little better...
but can never compare
to the weathered years on these beauties!

Love the "W" on this one...
Wonder what it was for?

Not only do we love collecting them and appreciating their
vintag-y goodness, Karrie uses them to hold
beautiful flower arrangements in....

And...Spring is coming...so that means
that this week Pots are being prepped
with some lovely moss....

and will be waiting for some
pretty flowers to brighten your day!

"It is always exciting to open the door
and go out into the garden for the first
time on any day."

A Day with The Captain

Last night I was cleaning through one of my piles of
"things that need to be organized"

And I came across this book...

It's selling for $8.99-$17.50 on eBay right now
(but I really don't think I can part with it ~ after all I just found it again lol!!)

I don't remember when or where I picked it up...I just did
because I remember watching
The Captain
all of the time

What is kind of neat...is that when I got on to find out a little
more about my book and
Bob Keeshan
I saw that Bob was born on today's date back in 1927

So...I thought you could indulge me in a little
nostalgia this afternoon!!

There were so many fun characters that would show up
at "The Captain's Place"

Mr. Green Jeans...
whom I always thought was a funny guy...
and of course Mr. Moose

But my favorite was always
Bunny Rabbit

He was a bunny who didn't have many words...at all
but always the best reactions!

AND he ALWAYS got a carrot or two in the shows...
some of them were
  "Jim-dandy" extra large carrots! ;)

Just in case you haven't gotten enough of the Captain...
here's bunny in moose up to trouble ~
can you guess what is about to happen?

Thanks for tagging along with us down memory land today!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Face Transplant

Have you ever had one of
those days....

where you are putting something away and you
know
that if you don't move that little treasure
it will most likely fall and shatter into a few zillion pieces?

do you listen?

listen
 to the
sweet little Copley bird planter
that your sister got you
fall

fall

fall
onto the floor
and it's beak flying and hitting the wall

yep...
should have listened....

But
it was a minor repair
{don't think that I wasn't going to go hop on eBay to find another to replace it lol!}

all is well...
at least for the moment!

Hope you're having a great day
 that requires no glue :)

Treasure Box

Treasures!
We all have them...but they are usually
tucked away in a box in the attic!

Have you ever thought of displaying them?

Yesterday we were up in mom's sewing room
and saw this shadow box that our cousin made several years ago
with all sorts of vintage sewing treasures!

We had completely forgot about this box...
and that it inspired us to do
a Shadow Box Class at the store

Sweet treasures lovingly tucked inside a
Shadow Box
so that they can be seen by not only you...
but by whoever walks into the room

We bet right now your mind is swimming with ideas....isn't it?

First put fabric or paper on the front of the board of the shadow box...
then lay out your treasures
to see how you would like them to look in your box

We used a combination of glue, glue dots and pins
to get everything to stay in place.

Then you can hang up your creation
 for everyone to see!

If you'd like to see some of the other ideas
from of our class attendees ~ visit the post here.

Thanks for stopping by today...hope you were inspired!
Join us as we party with Patti and Paula
@ Ivy & Elephants for What's it Wednesday!

The Desk Set

One of the first things that you see when you walk into our store this week
is this little display....

Many times people come in wanting a desk...
and LOVE the tables that we have
but want more storage....

so we found a solution to the problem...
added two smaller nightstands on either side....

For plenty of storage
AND an adorable...one of a kind
Desk Set!

Join us over for What's it Wednesday
for more great vintage decorating ideas!!

The Desk Set

Talking about this desk set makes us think of
Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy...
Have you ever seen it?
The computer against good old humans...
only as Hepburn and Tracy could do it :)

When Life Gives You Tea Cups....

When life gives you tea cups...
Make tea.
To say that we've been busy is an understatement for sure!
With getting Christmas down at the store {and our homes}
and getting things ready for the 2015 season...
we were happy to take a little time
last night after we worked on displaying our booth there....

We found these pretty flow blue tea cups
so, tonight we decided to make some tea and sit back and relax...

Hope your New Year is going well so far!
Our "resolution" is to spend a little bit more time on the blog :)

Cheers!

joining Paula & Patti tonight for What's it Wednesday...

Shine On....

What happens after our Open House
you may ask?

We get some housework done!
This morning I was putzing along
and decided to polish my
1987 silver trophy I picked up at
The Summer Market this year.....

Not that I didn't mind it tarnished at all...
I just felt like polishing...
and when that feeling comes
I've learned to act on it ~ lol!

I love using this beside the stove to put all of my spatulas in...
so pretty & fun....
and
SHINY

at least for today.....

Moo Light Up My Life....

Every so often while shopping an estate sale or flea market
 you come across something you
 just can't part with...
and so begins the
tale of two cows

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.”
oh wait a minute....tale of two cows...
not Tale of Two Cities ~ lol!

Well...see....
every time we get home from a picking trip we
dump everything that needs washed at my house
and I leisurely wash everything and sit it out to dry....

Wouldn't you know that those two cows
kept tugging on my heartstrings?
so...just for fun I sat them in my dish cupboard

Well....they seemed so happy
winking and all at me...
how could I resist?
~
So now when I put dishes away
THIS
is what I see....

what a way to enjoy cleaning up the kitchen!!

Today we're joining
Patti & Paula for What's it Wednesday

What's wrong McFly?

CHICKEN??

We came across an estate sale that was
FULL
of chickens...
and this is what we thought of:

yep, that's right ~ Marty McFly!

Truly,
there were a
BAZILLION
chickens in this home....
(we'll clarify...a bazillion chicken figurines! lol!)

You know when you go into an estate sale
and you might see, let's say, a lot of dog figurines...
but you still see some other figurines besides the dogs....
NOT the case in this house...

 ALL
CHICKENS!

And so many to choose from...
we left with a
PECK
of them
at least!!
:)

Have you ever seen so much
Poultry before?

All different colors and styles.....

We love the ones that are Sugar/Creamers
with Salt & Peppers on top!

Seeing all of these chicken got us thinking about
Foghorn Leghorn

(oh you've just love looney tunes!)

and that's,
 I say that's all folks!

Flower Power!!!

We thought we'd take you for a tour of the sweetest
bedroom today.....it is one of our favorite
FULL
of beautiful flowers....

on the wall....

in the arrangements....

and even in the old pitcher...

Give me odorous at sunrise a garden of beautiful flowers
where I can walk undisturbed.
