In Love with Layering!

It's Friday!
and we're in Love with layering!
Sometimes we have people come into the store
and say how much they love a piece...
but wonder what they could do with it...

Layering....
lots of layering darlings!

So we thought we'd show you some of our vintage goodies...
and how you can layer with them.

First...a basic silver compote...
add a pretty doily underneath it....then
why not a piece of blue transferware?

It's looking good - isn't it ?
(our mouths are watering with all of this vintage goodness!)

Then...because we are dreaming of spring
(weatherman is calling for 10" of snow today)
We will add a pretty nest embellished with feathers, moss and eggs...

but wait!
That seems a little low...the compote could use some height...

add two vintage books and place them on top of the doily!

and...just when you think you are done
(ha!  you all know us better than that!)

add another pretty vintage saucer
and watch your compote pop!

There you have it....
a layering tutorial ...
and ideas on how to use that next
vintage find in your home!

For those of you that are in the area -
we will be having another
"Accessorizing 101" class
March 10th at 6:30pm
The class is complementary...
but we do ask that you RSVP due to a limited class size.

Today... come join us over at Debra's Common Ground
for more fantastic vintage finds at

It's Friday....
We are in love with layering, vintage
& of course Vintage Inspiration Friday...

What are you in love with today?!!

You are right - I think we are all thinking of spring and that sweet little nest is just what we all needed! Love the layering
I couldn't find anything on the cabinet online but didn't spend too much time. There was a Chicago Cabinet Co that featured pharmaceuticals but no pictures of the cabinet.
Have a great day

I have a very similar piece of silver that was my moms and you just gave me the best idea to display it. I was even thinking of placing a cloche on top. Lovely!!

Love it! It helps to see the steps of how those beautiful vignettes come about. Makes me want to go play with some of the orphaned stuff in my china cabinet. Thanks for sharing.

This is great! I love it. Isn't it amazing that you can take a plain piece, add some other pieces and it all becomes a vingette!

Great post.

Love it!! I only ever thought of layering in a clothes sense.

You ladies are so clever, am going to check out my cupboards and see what I can come up with.

How darling! I'd be itching to get the polish out though... a birth defect instilled by my mom.

I saw you asking Linda for a gumbo recipe~ Hop on over to the WhistleStop Cafe and search... I've got it!

Well you taught this old dog a new trick. When I first started reading I though, "I know, PEOPLE just don't know what to DO with their stuff!" Well, I had the silver with the china with a candle but OMG the books and another plate! You are genius!!!
Thank you!
Susanne.
