Tidbits

It's me agian! Yesterday I took some pictures of the oustide of the shop - thought you'd all enjoy the flowers. I'm going to point out that we have two different mums in the urns outside - well, one wasn't open yet, and it really did look like it would be turning purple!! I had to explain, because I know some of you will say, "Why do they have two different colored mums?" "Is it on purpose?" No, just a simple mistake - oh well, you should find humor in anything...........you'll get lots of it here! We just got in a box of Halloween Tuesday - a little late coming - but really cute stuff! I'll try to get some snapshots today to post. I took pictures of the new Maggie B purses that came in - I really love the colors of these! Check it out - there are three different styles of bags, then a wallet and a make-up case - very cool, don't you agree?

For those of you who are new to The Summer Kitchen, this white, worn door is the door that was on the original Summer Kitchen to the house, the first location of "The Summer Kitchen." We kept the door, sentimental perhaps, but it does make a great display for our wreaths. We always get lots of comments about it, and now, we have a little obsession with old doors. I think we have three on the floor right now. We had our friend Jill Otermat come and faux antique the doors out front and our door in the back to the storage area (which has been unfinished now for 7 years!!) so that they look old now too. Hey, your thing might be collecting key chains, pottery, baskets, pictures or mirrors (I love collecting mirrors, but we'll blog about this another time) but, we at the Summer Kitchen, can't get enough old doors, we know, we're a little quirky (but hey, again, find humor in everything, right?!) All right, I'm letting you go so I can get something done today!! Happy collecting!

"Fall" In Love with The Summer Kitchen

Good Morning everyone! Fall is in the air - do you feel it? I can't wait for all of the trees to start turning - what a great time of year! Before I get into "Fall In Love with the Summer Kitchen," I wanted to give you an update on the "Share the Bounty" campaign. Fall Open House turned out to be a great weekend, and thanks to you, we filled three boxes for the Gibsonburg Food Pantry! Karrie and I truley appreciate all of you for your generousity! Thank you!
Looking at the Journal's title, you may ask, "Karla, why should we Fall In Love with The Summer Kitchen?" Well, I'm hoping that you are already in love with the store, so I won't need to explain! But, now we have even more reasons for you to love it. For starters, we are having a sale on our Swan Creek vintage jar candles. They will be 20% off now, thru the end of October (such a good time to stock up). While you are picking out your favorite scents, we'd like your opinion. (Here's the catch!) We are contemplating changing the style of the jars, and we'd like to hear your thoughts. (After all it is YOU we are getting the candles for!) So, when you come in, make sure we hear your vote - it will be the majority's choice!!
The second reason to "Fall In Love with The Summer Kitchen", would be our complimentary Acccessorizing Classes. We have one coming up, October 19th from 7pm - 8:30pm and we'd love to have you join us! We ask that you just register - either online, by phone or in person, so we know how many flyers to make up! (By the way, we'd like to introduce you to the lovely lady on the right, she's our decorating expert, and we call her Madge - oh no, now I've done it, "The Girls" will be upset that they don't have names now! We'll deal with that later.....I just thought you'd like to meet Madge!) Anyhow, bring your pictures of the places in your home you are having trouble with, and we'll see if we can't get it straightened out - in fact we might give you so many ideas, you might pull and all-nighter, accessorizing your whole house! Not only will we talk about your room's issues, we look at samples of different ways to place your accessories, and then we have fun with the "hands-on training". We give everyone a blank table, or displaying spot, and we fill it up with fun stuff until everyone is comfortable with accessorizing. Doesn't this sound like a fun "girls night out"?!!
The third reason to "Fall In Love with The Summer Ktichen" is that...........we're getting new web pages!! Yea! Karrie and I cannot wait! We are still working on it, but the "bones" are there, and they are good!! Just to give you a taste of what to expect - "The Girls" will be there - you know how we love them! We are also looking at adding music to the site, but we'd like to know if most of you have DSL or Dial-up? We don't want to make anyone hate us for a slow download, so if you think of it, let us know! We just love hearing from our customers!
Well, I had better get ready so I can get to work - we are finishing up our Christmas plans for you this week (reason #4 to love the Summer Kitchen..........ok, ok, I'll stop.....for now!!)
Hey, everyone, take care, and enjoy the season!

Share the Bounty

Hey, Hey, Hey everyone! Sorry to leave you hanging for almost a month - but we've been busy little beavers! The children are off to school, and we have been busy! Christmas things are coming in and we are checking our lists to see what else we can WOW you with this November! Such fun stuff - we can't wait to show you all, but, I'm getting ahead of myself, this blog is not about winter - don't want to think about Jack Frost yet! No, no, we want to concentrate on the Fall Open House next week.
First off, I want to talk about this picture above. Those of you on our mailing list will have gotten our post card by now, and you might have seen the ad in the News Messenger and Trader Gazette. You got a sneak peak of "The Girls," as we like to call them. As soon as we saw this great clip, we just had to have them represent Karrie and I - we hope you like them, for they will be the "faces" of the Summer Kitchen. What do you think of them? Hmmmmm, Maybe we should have a contest to name them ......in any case, we really love them, and just laugh when we see them - don't you?
During the Open House, you will have so many new and fun things to choose from! We can't wait for you to see. We have a new sign company that has a really great look. You will love our fun and unique Halloween decorations, as well as the new Thanksgiving items. Lots of beautiful arrangements and wreaths, as always, and some pictures that will put a bright spot on your wall.
This year Karrie and I feel so blessed, that we wanted to do something for the community. We heard that the Gibsonburg food pantry was running low on products, and this is the time that those items will be needed. During open house we will have a wheelbarrow in front of the store that we would like to fill with canned goods, and paper products. We would like to "Share the Bounty" with others. If you feel obligated to help us in this campaign, please stop out during September 21st - 23rd and bring something to fill the wheelbarrow!
