Handy Shadows
While on vacation last week we visited this place...an art gallery? No, actually we were at The Kennedy Space Center in Florida. This was the most amazing shadow that I took {and believe me, I took a LOT of shadow pictures!}
These were casts of astronaut's hands. Each astronaut gets a full body cast, to form their suits to them. The hands are the most important cast, as the gloves are made specifically to fit each hand.
I couldn't help but hum that folk song...."Put Your Hand in the Hand" ~ was it from the 70's? Anyway, it was in my mind all day then!!
Enough said {or sung!}, let's give Tracy from Hey Harriet a great big HAND for hosting our favorite meme: Shadow Shot Sunday! Come on along and visit to see what kind of shadows are around this week....!

wow! fantastic shot. the background story makes it so much more interesting!
Great shot--strange and kind of spooky.
Great find!
I once found in a junk shop a whole set of hand models of various sizes, meant for making rubber gloves. I still regret not buying those, though I haven't a clue what I would have done with them.
Amazing, terrific shot! Different and very interesting I have to say!
Have a great weekend!

Happy SSS.
ah the shadows that shouldn't have been on the moon

If you had said these were sculptures which had taken months to make, I would have believed you. It's a stunning shot - and you have taught us a little more about what goes into making up the life of an astronaut!
How interesting, you can almost read their ages from the look of their hands.
Love the bed below, the good ol' days!
How cool is that shot!?! A great big hand to you for capturing it. Such an awesome shadowy image. Thanks also for including the background info. I'd be totally clueless otherwise and would never have guessed what it was all about. You sure visit some interesting places :)
very nice... and clever title to your post as well! I ADORE creative titles!

My Shadow Shots
What a historical shot, ladies? I really can hear the sounds of clapping.
Am trying to stamp my feet and try to shake my booty *LOL
hugs to you both on a sunny Sunday.

Very nice SSS. We're giving you "a hand" of applause! (lol)

art and science meet in beauty
I love this!!
Awesome! I want gloves made to fit MY hands - the pinkie finger and thumb is always too long, tempting me to attempt some tailoring. ;)
Cool beans...love that shot! And the back story!!
Very interesting shot - and now I will be singing that song for ages. Ah well - it was a goody.
That is a really cool shot! I'm not sure when that song came out. Hope you had lots of fun on your vacation:D
Now that is cool!
That is so neat that the do the hand/body casts! What a cool photo, too. :)
lovely shadows on the hands, and such an interesting explanation - thank you! :)
Very cool!
An award is waiting for you at my most recent post...
