After the Rain

After the big storm Sunday night,

 we were left with quite a few puddles...

but some of them appeared above ground!

Look! The bird has its own birdbath! 

Karrie's back porch has the sweetest little tablescape

sitting on the glass coffee table.

It consists of an ironstone platter...teapot, plates, iron bird..

AND there's the most beautiful succulent on it this year...

Don't you just love the ripples on this one?

We're off to brew a pot of tea to enjoy before heading to work!

The Summer Kitchen Girls

Fallin' for Ya.....

So...we've been a little MIA from the blog...

but a lot of things have been going on!

 We just rented a booth at The Maumee Antique Mall 

~ so we are slowly getting that around, 

and then we were getting ready for our

  Fall Open House 

on the inside

and 

the outside....

We are lovin' our pumpkins mixed in with our 

"junk"

outside this year....

This year we were inspired to use dried hydrangeas

from Karrie's arrangements at her house last year...

It's always fun to try to create

  new designs

 in the urns & the front every year...

If the Shoe Fits...

When we were at an estate sale last weekend

we just could NOT

part with these adorable vintage golf shoes!

They were way too small 

for either of these sister's feet

{think Cinderella's Step-Sisters....that's what we have to deal with lol!}

However....

It just so happens that we had some extra succulents left over

from this week's class at the store....

So we planted them

in these adorable shoes....

Oh my goodness....

are these the cutest or what?!! 

So...if the shoe fits....

{or more likely doesn't fit!}

Plant it!

Decorating with Fall's Bounty

So glad you stopped by!

Take a look at the

BOUNTY

of fall....

Our hydrangeas 

were just gorgeous this year...

We just had to use them...

...along with some of the beautiful tree branches

and pumpkins from the farm down the road.

Adding a little Fall to the Home 

makes us happy....

....very Happy!!

We honestly think 

we could stay on our porch all day!

Ohhhh Momma!

Mom had new porch cushions done for her porch

and last week they were done!!

Looks pretty good...but
while mom was gone
we girls started
to play....

It just seemed a little bit
empty...

A runner, silver tray, silver tea pot

starfish, votive holders

and a great vintage doily

will help this wicker table!

This bench is so fun now that mom had a ruffle put along the bottom.

The floral pillow just needed a little help - we found a great jute pillow in the color we needed!

If you look at the first picture, you'll notice an empty spot.

We needed something....hmmmmm

We knew we could find something - and this bistro table

will be perfect for mom to sit and sip some coffee

in the morning...and afternoon...

and evening!

We opted for a vase that she can fill with roses from her rose garden, right off of the porch!

This birdhouse was sitting in her basement

and needed a new home...

Found it!!

I don't think we need to say that

she loved it

and was tickled pink!!

It's Friday...and We're In Love with Fall Porches

Today we are joining Debra at Common Ground for her Vintage Inspiration Fall Porch Party!

Here at The Summer Kitchen, we decorate our porch to the seasons.

Fall is one of our most favorite times to do this...

We love going to our local fruit & veggie stand to pick out unusual pumpkins

 

We can't bear to tear out our summer flowers quite yet...so we use them in our Halloween/Fall decorating

This year we took some orange lights and lit our potato vine up

An old screen door against some old barn siding...

A candelabra with some dripped candles we created in the post below....

Always...a wreath on the door...

A boo-tiful welcome at night

During the daylight...not so scary! 

Here at The Summer Kitchen we use sticks a LOT!

Pop them into that urn & your good to go!

All Hail Queen Carol

What a fantastic Spooktacular Open House we had this weekend!

The one thing we couldn't wait to do, was to announce the winner of our Porch & Patio Contest on Sunday....

Congratulations go out to Carol Phillips of Gibsonburg!

Carol's back porch received the most votes from our judges...

thank you judges for your input!

They loved how Carol's porch made you feel at home, really comfortable!
