Pachyderm Shadows

This week the kiddos had a day off...
so we spent a perfect fall day at the Toledo Zoo

On our way to see the baby elephant
we spotted this elephant sculpture
 that sported some fantastic shadows!

Here's Lucas who was really quite darling romping around!

Follow us as we travel the globe searching for the shadows
with Tracy @ Hey Harriet
for Shadow Shot Sunday

The elephants, real or imaginary, are quite cool. Naturally, the bronze (?) one is a bit quieter, no stomping on the ground if mad. Lucas is the perfect gentleman!

That sculpture is terrific. And what great shadows too. Elephants are such amazing creatures. When our painting elephant,Ruby, lived (at the Phoenix Zoo) I would visit her at least once a week. We had such joy visiting her.

Love it, girls! I'm an elephant nut so this is right up my alley.

Hope your weather there is as pretty as ours is here.

Sheila

In the first photo, the elephant looks as if he is delighted to parade his shadows! And Lucas is such a cutie!

The elephant shot is amazing, hard to tell where the sculpture ends and the shadows begin.

Especially for you, my dears, to celebrate your time with Lucas:

SMALL ELEPHANT CHILD

Small elephant child, please pack up your trunk,
We’re taking a journey today;
Bring all that you need—a toothbrush and such—
We’ll go where the wild things play!

Bidgers and badgers and bollapaloos
Are lurking behind every bush;
You must keep alert and never grow lax—
Small elephant, cover your tush!

The journey is long, the journey is hard,
But if you are willing to go,
You’ll see wondrous sights—ten thousand delights—
Down where the wild things grow!
