Slitheryn Shadows

Went on a field trip this week with my son's first grade class....we saw lots of shadows,
but this one was my favorite. Don't worry....there was a piece of glass
between us and this Emerald tree boa!

Anyway...it made us think of Harry Potter (snakes = Slitheryn) and it made me think of my daughter's teacher, Mrs. J.

Every year she inspires young minds by reading the first three books from the Harry Potter series to her fourth grade class. They also have a Harry Potter Week in May.

I don't know about you, but any teacher that can get children (especially mine) to go from only reading chapter books to wanting to tackle an 8" Harry Potter book is amazing!

(and...yes, of course everyone in her class is awaiting Harry Potter's sixth movie on July 15th....see the clip here)

So....since school is ending we'd like to dedicate our shadow shot
to Mrs. J, and all of those who spark the imagination, and creativity
in young (and old) people's minds!
Thank you teachers!

For more creative shadows...please go visit Hey Harriet, where we find more pictures that inspire....thanks to Tracy too, who has inspired us
to go out and find interesting shadows every week!

Really good of those who manage that!
That boa made me shiffer. Brrr! Even with a window in between he would frighten me. Brrr.

Love the contrast between the upper and the lower divided by the snake which, though beautiful, is none the less frightening!

Don't like snakes too much but this one looks kinda cool with candylike colors. Raining in the terrarium? That's first. Nice shadows ties this nicely to SSS. You have a great sunday! :)

Mrs J sounds like quite the blessing! Great shadow shots you got, though I wouldn't have gotten that close to the Slitheryn One! I grew up in NW Ohio--a little city named Napoleon--anywhere near you? Happy weekend!

Terrific post! The Harry Potter books made a new reader of my husband, believe it or not. After the first movie, he just had to know what happens next. That teacher is a gem to read to her class, getting them hooked on books.

Love the snake shadows!

Oohhhh, such pretty colours. I do have to admitt snakes give me the chills ... even in pictures.
Mrs. J sounds like a dream teacher. How lucky for you to have a child experience her teaching skills.

And those kids are definitely lucky to find such a good teacher. Have a great week!
