The Trouble With Shadows

This week we were up at the Cleveland Clinic. There is always something going on there, and it just so happens that I had the camera with me....and we saw that construction was almost done. Looking for some neat shadows, we saw these stones in front of the building. They are simple and, when filled with water, are fabulous - very zen-like.

See the article here about the pools of water & what they look like filled. We thought our Australian friends would like to know that the same design group that designed this also designed the Millennium Parklands in Sydney.

Now....I must share with you another water feature from The Clinic. There is this wonderful round, clear fountain up front. It looks like - well, jello, almost. I went to take a picture of it {for it was casting the perfect shadows}...and a police man came up and told me I was not to take a picture of it....well - "why??" I asked. He didn't know, only to tell me that there are only two in the world like it - and they didn't want pictures taken of it. *humph* I walked away {and, of course, tried to get a side shot, but....my finger was in the way}....whatever!

So, dear shadow enthusiast....I googled it and found it on this lady's flicker account - so go and check it out - before they arrest her and take this off of the web - ha!

See what other trouble shadow shooting can get you in over at Hey Harriet this weekend!!

Those stones in the water are fabulous! So glad you included the site so I could see them in the water! You're right, very "zen" like! Super shots! Thanks for sharing and for stopping by my blog and your comments, always appreciated. Happy SSS!

I adore the simplicity of this design. It's very zen-like with or without water! Pity about that police man getting in the way of your other photo. I come across that often, where security guards etc ask that I don't take photos of certain things. And when I ask the reason why they can never provide me with one! Which really bugs me! It makes it very hard to play by the rules if they can't justify their silly rules! Grrr. Ok, rant over now ;D

You know, at first I saw the picture and thought..what a shot, but who would line up rocks like that...? Of course, after reading and seeing how they look with water..just beautiful..what a neat picture..Happy SSS..

Wow...what cool fountains and leave it to the police to bully on something so common as a tourist with a camera...too much testosterone I guess, good ol' Homeland Security strikes again.

Cool shadows girls...

I love the stones. And that is a great photo you took of them. The link to the jello fountain is amazing. Too bad about the guard being around to stop you.

Nice take on the shadow theme. At first I thought this was a bizarre attempt at blocking a road.

There is something so soothing about water. One can sit and watch a pool, pond, lake, stream, waterfall for hours.

What is very bizarre is that they don't allow photos of a public, outdoor place. i would have figured out how to sneak a shot, too.

Hi,
I like your photo-the perspective is great! It does look good filled too. That's ridiculous about not taking photos. The fountain looks good.
Thanks for visiting me too! I am enjoying my first SSS very much!

Thanks for the link to the fountain. It is fascinating! The rocks are pretty amazing, too. Aren't the shadows just popping up everywhere? I appreciate your visiting and kind comment.

That's crazy!! lol. Are you sure he wasn't goofing with you?! For God's sake...it's an outdoor fountain! If it's so top secret I think they'd better get it inside!

Love the rock shot! Before you said they were part of a fountain...I was just wondering why anyone would line up all those rocks like that?! lol:)
