God Bless You!

We are always trying to come up with ways
to use our vintage pieces around the house!
Here is one of the ways we use vintage that
 EVERYONE ohhhhs and ahhhhhs over...

Get rid of those horrible tissue boxes immediately
and find yourself a pretty pitcher!

Open up the box of tissues and put the tissues through the opening
and pull the first one out and voila!

A creative and much more attractive
than "the box"

Darling Decoupage Transformation

Don't you just love seeing
anything decoupaged?

We just finished these pretty plaques up
(we think they turned out adorable!)

We didn't take a "before" picture
but they looked a lot like these....

ummm....
maybe worse...they were faded pretty bad!
So....we painted everything a creamy white....
EVERYTHING!

Then we found some
 pretty Waverly wallpaper
and cut some of the flowers out....

Then worked on a couple of different designs....

We put painted the background of the frame
and then we put a coat of Mod Podge
on the frame and placed the flowers on them

and then put another coat of Mod Podge over
to seal the flowers in place.

What a change!!
(for the better for sure!)

What projects are you guys working on this week?
We'd love to hear about them!

In the meantime...join us over at
and get inspired!

A Tisket A Tasket....

A Blue & Yellow
Basket??

Soooo......we had some garden tools...
and we painted them...
then
MAGIC
started to happen!

We were trying to figure out just what to do with these
to show everyone
WHY
they needed them!

First we put a votive cup in them...
and of course a candle ~ how cute would that be sitting on your table...
a bunch of painted bulb planters
lighting up the dinner conversation!

THEN....we took one of our pretty floral pics
and sat it in the bulb planter
SUPER CUTE vase ~ truly loved this idea!

But the idea that won out for our display
was sticking some moss inside the cup
and putting some sweet eggs inside!

Both of of our bulb planter sold during Open House this weekend...
I think we'll be on the look out for more...
how about you?

Keep Creating!!

Hippity Hoppity On Over Here!

Because this is just the cutest idea...
and it was soooo
EASY!

1. Find a pretty Vintage plate

These will do!

2. Print out some bunny silhouettes
and cut them out
with a handy dandy exact-o knife!

3. Plop that adorable bunny on your plate
and position it where you need it

4. Trace that beautiful bunny
on your plate with a pencil....

Ta da!!!

5. Fill that bunny in with either
some black ceramic paint
(or another color!)

or use a Sharpie Oil marker
(we used gloss in both...the sharpie was definitely easier to apply...
but the marker won't go as far as the paint....just saying!)

6. Let it dry....and put that
seriously cute bunny plate in a special spot
 that you'll see every day

(it will make you extremely happy...we promise!)

WARNING!!!
These are
so darn cute
and will
MULTIPLY quickly.....

You just won't be able to stop making them ~ lol!!!

Join us today as we try a new blog party today...

Then let's Hop on over to Elephants & Ivy for
and let's see what blooming about for SPRING why don't we?!!

Have a Happy Day Everyone!

Treasure Box

Treasures!
We all have them...but they are usually
tucked away in a box in the attic!

Have you ever thought of displaying them?

Yesterday we were up in mom's sewing room
and saw this shadow box that our cousin made several years ago
with all sorts of vintage sewing treasures!

We had completely forgot about this box...
and that it inspired us to do
a Shadow Box Class at the store

Sweet treasures lovingly tucked inside a
Shadow Box
so that they can be seen by not only you...
but by whoever walks into the room

We bet right now your mind is swimming with ideas....isn't it?

First put fabric or paper on the front of the board of the shadow box...
then lay out your treasures
to see how you would like them to look in your box

We used a combination of glue, glue dots and pins
to get everything to stay in place.

Then you can hang up your creation
 for everyone to see!

If you'd like to see some of the other ideas
from of our class attendees ~ visit the post here.

Thanks for stopping by today...hope you were inspired!

Sweet Vintage Linen Pillows

It all starts with a snowy day....

You're a bit board
{and don't want to do housework...which is what you should be doing...}
So you decide to
start a project!

You know...those projects in your project room you haven't started yet ;)

So...you grab those nifty vintage linen napkins you've been saving...
and that old chenille bedspread and you cut
and cut
and cut

Then you sew those two together
and sew
and sew
and sew

and stuff....
{you get the point...we're making a LOT of pillows here!}

A little slip stitch at the bottom....

and put them in the
FINISHED
pile

{did you hear that...FINISHED!}

 Well...
finished with this project at least!

Join us this week over at Ivy and Elephants for What's it Wednesday!
{where there's always something fun & creative going on there!!}

You guys got any fun projects you are starting or finishing today?

The Desk Set

One of the first things that you see when you walk into our store this week
is this little display....

Many times people come in wanting a desk...
and LOVE the tables that we have
but want more storage....

so we found a solution to the problem...
added two smaller nightstands on either side....

For plenty of storage
AND an adorable...one of a kind
Desk Set!

Join us over for What's it Wednesday
for more great vintage decorating ideas!!

The Desk Set

Talking about this desk set makes us think of
Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy...
Have you ever seen it?
The computer against good old humans...
only as Hepburn and Tracy could do it :)

An Open Window....

We LOVE the use of old windows!

This summer we were in Vermilion & had lunch at Woodstock Cafe
and that is where we saw this great
window/wall divider!

We came in the way of a LOT of old barn windows this summer
and we sold chippy ones with glass,
and we painted ones without glass and hung around the store.

guess what....we sold them ALL
and got more in...
sooooo....what is it that everyone wants all of these windows for?

Here are some adorable ideas:

We don't know about you guys, but we ALWAYS
need to write things down and this idea is a great way to repurpose
these old windows!

This was, by far, the main reason
that everyone wanted the windows with glass in it ~ can you blame them??

We HAD to share this...it's got the chalkboard AND the photo
area...and especially the extra cute points
for the shelf with the mason jars on it...ADORABLE!!

Now the only question is...
what would you do with a window??

Today we're joining What's it Wednesday....
pop on over and say hi!

Barnyard Treasures

We came across a basket of old Barnyard Pulleys

We love their shapes, the iron and the wood
just makes for a lovely object d'art!

Barnyard Pulleys were used to lift bales of hay into the loft of the barn...

one single pulley can cut the amount of force needed
to lift an object in half!

Pinterest Image
So...what do you do with a vintage barnyard pulley?
Hold your light fixture....
that is a fantastic way to display your newest find!

One of our favorite ways that we've seen to use
pulleys is in the garden....

Pinterest Image
Imagine how cute these would look with
mums in them for fall!

We love them just sitting around as well...

Pinterest Image
What a fun idea to use a pulley in your bookcase!
