"It was the best of times....
it was the worst of times..."
Ok...it's not a Tale of Two Cities....
but, it is a story!!
Last year I was driving down the street,
minding my own business, of course....,
When all of the sudden,
CHAIRS
6 of them
Just sitting on the side of the road
with that beautiful sign on them
F R E E
ahhhhh
(this, you might call...was the best of times!)
Our neighbor down the way MUST have known
that I needed
chairs down in our "craft" (ok...junk) room
I only needed 4 down there...
the other 2 - well, they would be perfect
at the ends of my dining room table
soooooo
I took them & brought them home...
where,
there they sat
and sat
and sat
(this was the worst of times, I guess!)
Well...for the next year I searched for a fabric to cover these lovely chairs with,
and while I searched, I had them painted a lovely golden yellow...
and distressed by Miss Jill FFF
(Favorite Faux Finisher)
Well, wouldn't you know that one night I was putting a table cloth
(that I got at TJ Maxx for $12 several years ago)
on the table
and I looked at the chairs,
looked at the tablecloth
(it was like a tennis match there for a bit!)
I decided that that $12 tablecloth was cool...
but
would look so much better on those two chairs!
Would it fit?
I measured...
Not only would it work,
but I wanted to add a ruffle around the bottom,
and....
if I cut the long end of both sides of the tablecloth,
that could be the ruffle
which meant
NO SEWING!
and
the center of the tablecloth could cover the seats...
(this, was the best of times!)
After attaching the fabric to the seat, I just started to
fold and staple the ruffle on to the chair....
AND....
It is DONE
finally!
What a happy little story - 'eh?!!
That is a great story and now awesome chairs!
ReplyDeleteYay for the tablecloth. They look great. Wonderful to find FREE chairs or free anything for that matter.
