We're in love with....

Lovely little silver vases in all shapes and sizes.

Waiting to hold fresh blooms from the garden.

Those were the days...

We spotted this adorable little pitcher while junkin' one day.

We fell immediately in love with its beautiful array of orchids.

Then we noticed the print on the back.

Compliments of
J.H. Colescott,

Then we googled this information on the web....
 and found this poem:

A Little Town

I like to live in a little town,
Where the trees meet over the street.
You wave your hand and say "Hello",
To everyone that you meet.
I like to stop for a minute
Outside of a grocery store.
And hear the kindly gossip
Of the folks moving in next door.
For life IS interwoven
With friends you learn to know.
And feel their joys and sorrows
As they come and go.
So I'm glad to live in a little town.
And care no more to roam.
For every house in a little town.
Is more than a house.
It's a home.

Compliments of
WELDON
STATE BANK

Then we fell in love with small town U.S.A. all over again!

Groceries & Queensware,
Weldon, Ill.

Wow!
Imagine such a lovely gift from your grocery store today!

It's Friday & We're in Love....

Write On!
It's Friday....and we are in love with
White Board Paint...

Before we get knee deep in this fabulous tree...let's start at the beginning!
My daughter was re-doing her room
and loved THIS:

Idea #1
Wall Mural
image from Pottery Barn Teen catalog
She loved this tree in Pottery Barn Teen and really wanted something like this on her wall.  We considered starching fabric and putting it up on the wall, or using wallpaper to make the tree to put on the wall.

Idea #2
Dry Erase Paint
image from idea paint website
What kid doesn't want to write on the wall?
{ok, ok...what adult wouldn't want to write on the wall?!!}

These two ideas sounded good...
but when we went to get that wonderful Idea Paint....ouch!
$75 would only get us 40 square feet of writing space...and since we had planned on painting it on her two folding closet doors...we were going to use a LOT more than 40 square feet...

That brought about
Plan #2

image from idea paint

While opening up the package and looking at the instructions we came across this picture
{insert light bulb - for bright idea here!}
so...we bought the package and came home for a fun mother/daughter time!

First we taped off the tree where she wanted it

the instructions are pretty clear on all of the steps...
first you have to prime your wall that will have the idea paint on it with kilz brand paint

After it dries, sand with 150 grit sandpapper

Then it's time for This and That

Simple enough,
pour This
into That
{is this dry erase painting for dummies?!}

With gloves, long sleeves and a mask
Roll the paint on...thick
When it dries...take off the tape
BUT BEWARE!
NO
Writing on the paint for 7 days!

She wanted to add some color and so we started adding some leaves that she cut out from scrapbook paper.  She just pasted them on the wall with wall paper paste.

She still wants to add an owl on the branch of the tree...
{and for you observant bloggers...yes, there was a mirror in the last picture...it just so happened to fall off the wall before we could take this last picture - needed more command strips that what we had on it I guess!!}

So...
What are you in love with today...
can't wait to hear!

Scone meets butter

Hi, I'm a scone.  And although I'm quite tasty on my own, I am soooo much better when I have a companion.

And then one day I spied my perfect mate.

She was like milk and honey, and was adorned with lavender buds.

Talk about a delicious match!

This Lavender Honey Butter Recipe was a hit at both our Lavender Tea and our Sorbet Soiree.... So after much demand, here is the recipe:

Lavender Honey Butter
1 stick of butter (softened)
4t. honey
4t. culinary lavender

Blend ingredients together and then chill until about a half hour before serving.
Enjoy!
