Paperweights

representing the great ironwork in New Orleans,

and the other of the Jackson Monument in Jackson Square.

Souvenir glass Paperweights...

we love running across them in antique stores and estate sales. 

 Fairly inexpensive...if the shape, city or sightseeing picture is right...it's ours!

It's Friday!

and we're in Love with layering!

Sometimes we have people come into the store

and say how much they love a piece...

but wonder what they could do with it...

Layering....

lots of layering darlings!

So we thought we'd show you some of our vintage goodies...

and how you can layer with them.

First...a basic silver compote...

add a pretty doily underneath it....then

why not a piece of blue transferware?

It's looking good - isn't it ?

(our mouths are watering with all of this vintage goodness!)

Then...because we are dreaming of spring

(weatherman is calling for 10" of snow today)

We will add a pretty nest embellished with feathers, moss and eggs...

but wait!

That seems a little low...the compote could use some height...

add two vintage books and place them on top of the doily!

and...just when you think you are done

(ha!  you all know us better than that!)

add another pretty vintage saucer

and watch your compote pop!

Raising A Glass to Friendship

We know you can see this glass....if you look close, there is some etching on this glass.

We sell these in the store and they are one of our

most favorite items.

Why?

Because of the story that goes behind them....

a tradition for friends

Isn't that sweet...

Valentine's Day with the Clucks

A new vintage find!

It's Mr. & Mrs. Cluck...

a lovely pair of salt & pepper and sugar & creamers

Mrs. Cluck has a bit of an attitude with Mr. Cluck,

being Valentine's Day is almost here,

she didn't think that he remembered...

So, she blew her top!

Wait, wait, Mrs. Cluck!

Mr. Cluck wants to show you something....

Awww....Mr. Cluck!

You did remember!

Clucky....you sweet beak you!

Two by Two, by Two, by Two

It's not the ark...

but they came two by two...

and we know that you should decorate by threes....

but pairing things off seems to work just as well

and when you add it all up

14 can better than 3!

Creative Time!

Last weekend we worked on a quick project for mom.

She had a picture frame (that's been sitting empty for a year!)

She was going to put the grandkid's school pictures in them....

ohhhhh no, we could do much better than that mom!

(hence, this is why the frame was empty for a YEAR!)

The hardest part...

taking silhouette pictures of the kids - ha!

Tracing their pictures and cutting it out of the black cardstock - easy!

Taping them inside of the frame - easy!

We didn't even need the easy button for this project!

An adorable frame, with distinctive silhouettes of the grandkids....

Wiping off the fingerprints...ahhh, yes...that's better

A project that makes a mom smile

A Bird in the Shadow....

Is better than none!

Time to chase shadows across the globe...
