It's Friday, and We're in Love....

Today we are in love....
in love with the lamps we got in this week...
this one in particular!

A simple linen shade with chocolate brown pipping, easy to introduce into any decor.

Then, the kicker is this base ~

Seaworthy Shadows

We were heading over to Put-In-Bay last week and found some lovely shadows on the Jet Express. For all of our out-of-town guests...did you know that Ohio has islands? Just a little FYI for you all :)

Isn't this a great picture....from what we can tell, that is our great great grandmother on the end....but we'll have to consult the family at the next reunion on the next two.

They look like they took a bit of an adventure....some time away from the farm & country life to visit the seaside!  We LOVE the boots on the gal in the middle....isn't that a hoot - and to think I was going to pack flip-flops for vacation!!

Bee Functional

This little guy is cast iron, holds a ball of twine, and makes staking those plants in your garden a whole lot more fun!

So, functional and cute... what more could a girl ask for?

Blueberry-Rhubarb Jam

Every year our Mom makes some of the best homemade jam.  Strawberry, strawberry-rhubarb, peach, pear and blueberry jam have become staples at her house.  Karrie came across this recipe and thought it should be added to the list.

Blueberry-Rhubarb Jam

2 1/4 cups blueberries

2 1/4 cups finely chopped rhubarb

2 tablespoons lemon juice

7 cups sugar

2 packages fruit pectin

Crush the blueberries, then add them to the rhubarb, lemon juice, and sugar in a large kettle.  Bring the mixture to a rolling boil for 1 minute.  Remove from heat, add pectin, and stir well.  Ladle the jam into sterile jars, seal, and process in a hot-water bath for 15 minutes.  Makes 4 1/2 pints.

There's nothing like chasing down a shadow...especially when you're in a old convertable! Thank goodness We had a driver for our Shadow Shot this week!

Wednesday Words

So...I'm thinking of all of our computer issues as...you guessed it,

a journey

"oooohhmmmmm"

and I've been doing a lot of meditating - ha!

Not really...but I've been really patient & sometimes, if I'm really good, the computer lets me work a bit, and when it does...I run with it!

Vacation is coming soon...so we have some vacation theme blog posts coming up in the next few months.

Thinking of life as a journey doesn't happen very often, we get so busy, we forget this little fact...and remember it when, well, we are going on a journey!

So, today, take time to create a memorable journey :)

(sometimes with your computer, sometimes without!! hee hee hee!!)

Cora's Party

Nothing fancy...Nothing too frilly....but fashionably fun

Our friends daughter was having her graduation party this weekend & we helped decorate with some easy, simple and inexpensive ideas.  First we picked lots of cone flowers from our flower garden.

Then, you know how we just love quotes...
Cora is going into Fashion Design, so, we took quotes from famous fashion designers and printed them out.

We then pasted them on scrapbook card stock and stuck them on flower card picks and put them in the vases with the flowers.

Then we just took some of our galvanized buckets from the store and put some sand in the bottom, and votive in it.  We added some grosgrain ribbon on the bucket's handles.

Sweet, Simple, and it makes a Statement

Pardon our lack of communication & posts of late...we are having computer issues - yulk!

Today, we had access to the computer & were finding all sorts of lovely garden ideas.

We loved this picture with these old iron wheels -  is it really junk??

and that is good enough for us!

Stadium Shadows that End with a Bang

Baseball stadiums look pretty cool at night with no one around....and there's lots of shadows to be found!

A couple of weeks ago we were watching the famous Mud Hens play at Fifth Third Field in downtown Toledo. Every Sunday night they have fireworks after the kids run the bases....so - we thought we'd end with a bang:
