We have a fun story to share with you about Grandma - see those heavy stockings she had on? Her mom would always send her to school wearing them (because all of her older sisters had to, you see). Well, being the youngest....and fashions changing, grandma never wanted to wear those stockings. So, instead of fighting with her mother, she'd slip those stockings off on the bus and tuck them into her bag...then before she got back home, she'd slide them back on again.

It all started with Grandma's jewelry box....
Some of the enamel pins that I've collected. Grandma's orange flower is there on the right
Since that time we've picked up a pin here....and earrings there....
Here are two necklaces that I wear...wish I could take a picture of Karrie's pendants - she's got some great ones...perhaps another post!
The bottom two are Grandma's as well....if she could only see us wearing "these old things" now!!
When we go to flea markets & estate sales, jewelry is always high on our list!
The crown, and the two Sapphire pendants are Grandma's as well!
So, thanks Grandma (we think!) for starting such a fashionable habit!
What have you inherited from your Grandma?

Live Simply
Country Living is featuring the vacation home of Emmy Award winning Tony Shaloub and his wife Brooke Adams. We adore the simple colors and furnishings of this Martha's Vineyard cottage.
Tony's sister-in-law built this bed for the couple's daughter, and Brooke sewed the curtains herself.
This is the original Formica top...isn't it grand? We are just smitten with this kitchen - just enough color - we couldn't think of anything better for a cottage kitchen!
To read more about Tony Shalhoub's cottage, as well as see more pictures of it, visit Country Living.

Shadow Flutter
Happy Easter!
Today we spotted some soft shadows
on our new butterfly paperweights.
Flutter on over to Hey Harriet to find more lovely shadows from around the world!
"The mark of your ignorance is the depth
of your belief in injustice and tragedy.
What the caterpillar calls the end of the world,
the Master calls the butterfly."

Eggs-traordinaire Eggs
Last year we made these eggs right before Easter, and never had a chance to post...so enjoy!
We used Duck eggs, because we read that the shell was harder and would stand up to the pressure of polking a hole in them, and getting the yolk out....some eggs didn't fare so well!
We photo copied some images that we had around the house and cut them into ovals to mod podge onto the eggs.
Ribbons
and Markers to decorate the eggs with
